Indian Navy and BEML Ltd. Sign MoU for Indigenisation of Critical Marine Engineering Equipment

New Delhi: In a significant move to advance the indigenisation of critical marine engineering equipment for the Indian Navy, BEML Ltd., a leading Defence and Heavy Engineering manufacturer under the Ministry of Defence, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Navy on August 20, 2024.

The MoU was formalized at the Naval Headquarters in New Delhi between Rear Admiral K Srinivas, ACOM(D&R), Indian Navy, and Shri Ajit Kumar Srivastav, Director of Defence, BEML. This partnership marks a pivotal step toward enhancing bilateral cooperation for the indigenous design, development, manufacture, testing, and product support of essential marine engineering equipment and systems.

This collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aiming to boost self-reliance in defence production and reduce dependence on foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). The agreement highlights the Indian Navy’s commitment to fostering domestic expertise in critical defence technologies and strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities.
