Indian Coast Guard Ship Samarth Rescues Stranded Fishing Boat off Minicoy Island

Minicoy Island: In a daring rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard ship Samarth rendered invaluable assistance to the distressed Indian fishing boat Arul Matha (IND-TN-12-MM-5707), which was left adrift approximately 50 nautical miles southwest of Minicoy Island since 25th January due to an engine breakdown.

The Indian Coast Guard swiftly responded to the distress call, deploying the Samarth to provide towing assistance to the stranded fishing vessel. The operation took place in challenging sea conditions, with rough waters posing an additional challenge for the rescuers.

Undeterred by the adverse conditions, the crew of the Samarth successfully towed the Arul Matha to safety, ensuring the well-being of the fishermen on board and preventing any potential escalation of the situation. The joint efforts of the Indian Coast Guard and the crew of the Samarth exemplify their commitment to maritime safety and swift response to distress calls at sea.

The distressed fishing boat, which had been adrift for several days, was safely brought to the shores of Minicoy Island. The prompt and effective response of the Indian Coast Guard reflects their dedication to ensuring the safety and security of mariners and fishermen in the region.

The Indian Coast Guard remains vigilant, ready to respond to emergencies at sea and upholding its commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the maritime domain. The successful rescue operation off Minicoy Island underscores the importance of a robust and proactive maritime search and rescue system.
