Indian Army Hosts Seminar and Exhibition on Military Technology
New Delhi: The Indian Army conducted a seminar cum exhibition at the Manekshaw Centre on the theme “Year of Technology Absorption – Empowering the Soldier.” Organized by the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) on behalf of the Indian Army, the event aimed to foster discussions among technology experts and industry professionals on the integration of modern technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and advanced hardware, in the military domain.
The event commenced with an inaugural address by General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), followed by a keynote address by Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM, NITI AAYOG). The exhibition showcased India’s advancements in the Defence Sector.
General Pande emphasized the importance of self-reliance in warfighting platforms and critical technologies through indigenous Research & Development. He highlighted the role of technology in shaping modern warfare, citing examples from recent conflicts. He stressed the need for collaboration among stakeholders to develop a vibrant national defence ecosystem.
The seminar comprised three sessions moderated by senior army officials and featured discussions on contemporary technology, industry capabilities, soldier empowerment, and maximizing technology effectiveness. Eminent speakers from academia, industry, and defence institutions shared insights on strengthening the Defence Industry, leveraging present and next-generation technologies, and military applications of cyberspace and satellites.
Lieutenant General Tarun Kumar Aich, Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (Strategy), delivered the closing remarks, emphasizing the Indian Army’s commitment to adopting niche technology and fostering collaboration with industry and academia.
