Kakinada: The fourth edition of the bilateral tri-service exercise Tiger Triumph 2025 between India and the United States culminated on April 11 with a high-profile Distinguished Visitors’ (DV) Day at Kakinada, showcasing the seamless coordination and operational readiness of both nations in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) scenarios.
The DV Day event was attended by key dignitaries including the Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Naval Area (FOTNA), the US Consul General, Commander of the US Navy Strike Group Five, and the Deputy General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division, among others.
The closing demonstrations included a dynamic series of joint operations conducted both at sea and on the coast of Kakinada. These featured coordinated Standoff and Hard Beaching landings, slithering operations executed by Special Operations Forces from Sea King and Mi-17 V5 helicopters, aerial insertions by C-130 aircraft, and integrated air and ground movements by personnel from the Indian Navy, Army, and Air Force, alongside their counterparts from the US Navy, Army, and Marine Corps.
These complex drills highlighted the growing synergy, interoperability, and mutual trust between the Indian and U.S. armed forces. The display marked a culmination of intense joint training conducted from April 1 to 11, aimed at enhancing preparedness for real-world disaster response missions.
The exercise commenced with a harbour phase from April 1 to 7 at Visakhapatnam, inaugurated by Jorgan K. Andrews, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy, and Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command. This phase featured Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) on key emerging technologies, including applications in medical support, drone systems, and space operations. Pre-sail conferences, cross-deck visits, ship boarding drills, and friendly sports matches were also held to foster camaraderie and professional exchange.
First held in 2019, Exercise Tiger Triumph is a flagship component of Indo-U.S. defence cooperation, conducted under the framework of the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA). It aims to build integrated response capabilities and share best practices in disaster relief operations.
