India to Host 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet & Expo (RE-INVEST 2024) in Gandhinagar

New Delhi: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, announced today that the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet & Expo (RE-INVEST 2024) will be held from September 16 to 18, 2024, at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This event, organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), highlights the Government of India’s commitment to advancing clean energy and achieving its ambitious climate goals.

At a press conference, Joshi underscored India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel installed capacity by 2030, requiring an estimated investment of ₹30 lakh crores. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Panchamrit” vision is at the core of India’s efforts to build a sustainable, green future. “This is not just a dream but a collective goal,” Joshi stated, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming RE-INVEST 2024 in accelerating the country’s clean energy transition.

Joshi also reviewed preparations for the event in Gandhinagar on September 9 and expressed satisfaction with the progress. The meticulous planning reflects the government’s dedication to advancing the renewable energy sector and reinforcing India’s position as a global leader in the clean energy transition.

RE-INVEST 2024 will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 16, with the valedictory session presided over by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on the final day. The three-day event is expected to attract over 10,000 delegates, including key figures from government, industry, and financial sectors.

The central theme of the event, “Mission 500 GW,” reflects India’s strategic objective of rapidly expanding its renewable energy capacity by 2030. As the world’s 4th largest country in terms of installed renewable energy capacity, India is determined to further consolidate its leadership in the global clean energy movement.

RE-INVEST 2024 will feature high-level international partnerships, with countries like Australia, Denmark, Germany, and Norway playing key roles. Indian states, including Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, will also actively participate. High-level delegations from the US, UK, Belgium, Oman, UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong are expected, with some delegations led by ministers from Germany and Denmark.

The event will host 44 sessions covering a range of topics, including a Chief Ministerial Plenary and a CEO Roundtable. Discussions will focus on innovations in renewable energy and investment opportunities across countries and states. Special sessions will highlight the role of women in accelerating energy transitions and showcase start-up innovations, including pitches by winners of the Solar X Challenge.

An exhibition will run in parallel, featuring contributions from public and private sectors, start-ups, and state governments. Networking opportunities will be facilitated through a digital platform enabling business-to-business (B2B), business-to-government (B2G), and government-to-government (G2G) interactions. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will serve as the industry partner for this year’s event.

India has made remarkable strides in renewable energy, supported by key initiatives such as the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and the Green Energy Corridor project. Programs like PM KUSUM and the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana are further driving the country’s renewable energy expansion.

RE-INVEST 2024 is set to play a pivotal role in attracting global investments, advancing green hydrogen projects, and exploring offshore wind energy potential, all critical to India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030.

India and Germany have also agreed to jointly launch the India-Germany Platform for Investments in Renewable Energy Worldwide, marking a new era of collaboration in clean energy investments and technology transfer.
