India Successfully Tests New Variant of Medium-Range Ballistic Missile
New Delhi: India achieved another milestone in its defense capabilities on Tuesday with the successful launch of a new variant of a medium-range ballistic missile. The Ministry of Defence confirmed the accomplishment in a statement, highlighting the significance of the test conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.
The user launch not only demonstrated the operational prowess of the Command but also validated the effectiveness of new technologies integrated into the missile, the ministry elaborated.
This successful launch comes on the heels of another significant achievement earlier this month, when the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight-test of the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM).
During the flight-test of the ITCM, which took place on April 18, the missile’s trajectory was closely monitored from an Su-30-Mk-I aircraft of the Indian Air Force. Equipped with advanced avionics and software, the missile showcased enhanced performance capabilities and reliability.
One notable aspect of the ITCM test was its ability to follow a precise path using waypoint navigation and execute a very low altitude sea-skimming flight. The successful flight also underscored the dependable performance of the indigenous propulsion system developed by the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) in Bengaluru.
