India Post Payments Bank and EPFO Join Hands to Offer Doorstep Digital Life Certificate Services for Pensioners

New Delhi: In a move to enhance convenience and accessibility for pensioners, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) — a 100% Government of India-owned entity under the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications — has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) under the Ministry of Labour & Employment to provide doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) services to pensioners covered under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 (EPS’95).

The MoU was exchanged between R. Viswesvaran, Managing Director & CEO of IPPB, and Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC), EPFO, during the 73rd Foundation Day of EPFO. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, as the Chief Guest. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary (Labour & Employment), Members of the Central Board of Trustees (CBT), senior officers from the Ministry of Labour & Employment, EPFO and IPPB, and other dignitaries also attended the event.

Under this partnership, IPPB will utilize its extensive network of over 1.65 lakh Post Offices and more than 3 lakh postal service providers — including Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks — equipped with Doorstep Banking devices. Using Face Authentication technology and Fingerprint biometric authentication, these postal agents will help EPFO pensioners submit their Digital Life Certificates from the comfort of their homes.

This initiative eliminates the need for elderly pensioners to visit banks or EPFO offices for paper-based submissions. Importantly, EPFO will bear the entire cost of issuing the Digital Life Certificates, making the service completely free for pensioners.

Speaking on the occasion, R. Viswesvaran, MD & CEO, IPPB, said, “This partnership with EPFO reinforces IPPB’s mission to bring essential financial and citizen services to every doorstep in India. With our technology-enabled postal network and trusted last-mile reach, EPFO pensioners—especially in rural and semi-urban areas—will now be able to complete their life certificate submission seamlessly, with dignity and convenience. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Digital India’ and ‘Ease of Living’ vision, harnessing technology and postal infrastructure to ensure inclusive service delivery for senior citizens and pensioners.”

How Pensioners Can Access the Service

Pensioners can simply contact their local Postman or Gramin Dak Sevak, or visit the nearest Post Office to avail of this service. By providing their Aadhaar number and pension details, and completing Face or Fingerprint biometric authentication, they can generate their Jeevan Pramaan (Digital Life Certificate) instantly.

Once processed, a confirmation SMS will be sent to the pensioner’s registered mobile number, and the certificate can be viewed online at https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in the next day.
