New Delhi: In a significant step toward tackling the growing burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in India, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has launched an Intensified Special NCD Screening Campaign today. Running from February 20 to March 31, 2025, the initiative aims to achieve 100% screening of individuals aged 30 years and above for Diabetes, Hypertension, and three common cancers—Oral, Breast, and Cervical.
The nationwide campaign will be executed under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD) and implemented across Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) and other healthcare facilities.
Ensuring Maximum Coverage Through Door-to-Door Outreach
A key component of the initiative is door-to-door outreach, where Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and frontline healthcare workers will conduct community visits to maximize screening coverage. This proactive approach aims to identify at-risk individuals early and ensure timely intervention.
To support effective screening, States and Union Territories (UTs) have been instructed to ensure the availability of essential medical supplies, including BP monitors, glucometers, and necessary medications at all healthcare centers.
Real-Time Monitoring and Multi-Level Coordination
The campaign will employ real-time data monitoring through the NP-NCD Portal, where screening, treatment, and follow-ups will be updated daily, ensuring transparency and accountability. Nodal officers at facility, block, district, and state levels will oversee the execution and coordination of the initiative.
Additionally, daily progress reports will be submitted to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare by 6 PM every day, allowing for continuous evaluation, feedback, and technical support.
