India Celebrates the Achievements of 100 Entrepreneurs

New Delhi: In a special Republic Day celebration, Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Minister of State for the Ministry of Education, honored 100 distinguished entrepreneurs from across India’s skill ecosystem at a grand event held at Kaushal Bhawan. These entrepreneurs, invited as special guests at the Republic Day parade, were recognized for their pivotal role in driving innovation and economic growth under the Skill India Mission.

Returning from the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos, Chaudhary highlighted India’s growing global reputation as a hub for skilled talent. “India’s skilled workforce is gaining immense recognition worldwide. Our emergence as a global skill capital is a testament to our commitment to excellence,” he said. He shared insights from WEF discussions, focusing on sustainability, artificial intelligence, and women-led development, which align closely with India’s entrepreneurial and skill-development priorities.

The event celebrated the achievements of entrepreneurs from diverse regions, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and the Northeast. Among the honorees was Ritendra Prasad from Jharkhand, who leveraged his decade-long experience in the solar energy sector and training from the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) to establish a successful solar business.

Special recognition was given to 16 trailblazing entrepreneurs from the Northeast, nine of whom are women. Notable among them were Namita M. Marak from Assam’s Dhubri district and Mandira Baglary from Udalguri district. Their stories of resilience and success underscored the transformative impact of skill development, particularly for women in rural and underserved areas.

Chaudhary emphasized the critical role of India’s start-up ecosystem, which now boasts 118 unicorns valued at $354 billion, and the MSME sector, which contributes 30% to the GDP and 45% to exports while employing over 11 crore people. The success of the Skill India Mission, he noted, has empowered countless individuals, creating sustainable livelihoods and inspiring a new wave of entrepreneurial spirit.

“The participation of these 100 entrepreneurs in our national celebration highlights the impact of our skilling initiatives. These programs have not only empowered individuals but also elevated India’s reputation as a source of skilled talent,” he said.

Reflecting on the occasion, Chaudhary paid tribute to the Indian Constitution, describing it as the backbone of the nation’s democratic ethos, ensuring equality, justice, and opportunity for all.

The event was attended by staff and top officials from MSDE, including Joint Secretary Hena Usman. Earlier, the group of honored entrepreneurs visited the PM Museum, adding to their memorable Republic Day experience.

This year’s Republic Day celebrations marked a proud moment for the nation, showcasing the strength of government initiatives, the achievements of its skilled workforce, and the promise of a brighter, more inclusive future powered by entrepreneurship and innovation.
