India Announces Squad for T20 Series Against Bangladesh; Mayank Yadav and Nitish Reddy in

Mumbai: India on Sunday revealed their squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, with several high-profile players, including Rishabh Pant, missing from the lineup. Fast-bowling sensation Mayank Yadav, who impressed with his blistering pace during this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), has earned his maiden national call-up in the 15-member squad. The series is set to begin on October 6 in Gwalior.

Yadav, known for clocking speeds of over 150 kmph (93.2 mph) while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023, has been rewarded for his standout performances. Along with Pant, regulars Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal will also be absent from the squad.

The all-rounder trio of Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube will provide depth in both batting and bowling departments. Meanwhile, spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakaravarthy have been selected to lead India’s spin attack, with seamers Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Mayank Yadav bolstering the fast-bowling unit.

Suryakumar Yadav will continue to captain the T20 side, having assumed the leadership role following Rohit Sharma’s retirement from the format earlier this year. Both Rohit and Virat Kohli stepped away from T20Is after India’s victory at the T20 World Cup in June.

The T20 series follows the conclusion of the ongoing Test series between India and Bangladesh. The first T20 match will take place in Gwalior on October 6, with subsequent matches scheduled for October 9 in Delhi and October 12 in Hyderabad.

India’s T20 Squad: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav.
