India and Thailand Sign MoU for Academic Collaboration in Ayurveda and Thai Traditional Medicine

New Delhi: The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur, under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine of the Ministry of Public Health, Government of the Kingdom of Thailand, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of academic collaboration in Ayurveda and Thai Traditional Medicine. The signing ceremony took place at the 10th India-Thailand Joint Commission Meeting held at Hyderabad House, New Delhi.

B.K. Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, Director-General, Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Thailand, signed the MoU in the presence of other dignitaries during the event.

The primary objective of this initiative is to promote, facilitate, and develop academic collaboration in the fields of Ayurveda and Thai Traditional Medicine, fostering a relationship based on equality and mutual benefit. The MoU will pave the way for the exchange of experts for research and training programs, academic and technical activities, and conducting joint research projects. It also enables the exchange of information, technologies, and best practices related to Traditional Medicine.

Both parties commit to encouraging and promoting cooperation in facilitating academic and technical activities, conducting research, and exchanging knowledge, experiences, and information. The MoU includes provisions for providing scholarships for education, promoting expert participation in conferences, workshops, seminars, and other collaborative efforts.

The Participants, represented by NIA and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Thailand, will support each other by facilitating training courses in both countries, conducting joint research studies on common health issues, and organizing conferences and meetings alternately in India and Thailand. The collaboration also involves sharing information on regulatory mechanisms, best practices, guidelines, and organizing periodic reviews to evaluate the progress and outcomes of collaborative programs.

The signing of this MoU marks a significant step towards strengthening ties between India and Thailand in the field of traditional medicine, fostering mutual growth and benefit.
