India and Japan Hold 2nd Consultations on Middle East and West Asia in New Delhi

New Delhi: The 2nd India-Japan Consultations on the Middle East/West Asia region were successfully held in New Delhi on July 25, 2024. The Indian delegation was led by Dr. Suresh Kumar, Joint Secretary of the West Asia & North Africa (WANA) Division, while the Japanese delegation was headed by Mr. ANDO Toshihide, Director General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau.

The consultations provided a platform for both nations to exchange views on the latest political developments, economic opportunities, and challenges within the Middle East and West Asia region. The discussions were comprehensive, covering key areas such as the ongoing situation in Gaza and broader geopolitical dynamics.

Participants from both sides engaged in constructive dialogue, sharing their insights and perspectives on the region’s evolving landscape. The discussions emphasized the importance of continuous communication and cooperation between India and Japan in addressing the complex issues affecting the Middle East and West Asia.

Both delegations expressed a commitment to maintaining regular consultations on these matters, underscoring the strong bilateral relationship between India and Japan. The meeting concluded with an agreement to remain in touch and continue their collaborative efforts in navigating the challenges and opportunities in the Middle East/West Asia region.
