India and Cambodia Launch Inaugural Joint Exercise CINBAX in Pune

Pune: The first edition of the Joint Table Top Exercise CINBAX between the Indian Army and the Cambodian Army began today at the Foreign Training Node in Pune. This week-long exercise, running from December 1 to December 8, aims to enhance joint operational efficiency and strengthen the bond of trust and camaraderie between the two nations’ military forces.

Exercise CINBAX focuses on simulating joint counter-terrorism operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. Both the Indian and Cambodian contingents, comprising 20 personnel each, are collaborating to establish a Joint Training Task Force for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance operations. The exercise also involves detailed discussions on planning counter-terrorism missions, managing contingencies, and employing force multipliers in sub-conventional warfare scenarios.

Participants are delving into critical aspects such as information operations, cyber warfare, hybrid warfare, logistics, casualty management, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations. The training is designed to enhance practical understanding through real-world scenario-based discussions and tactical exercises, enabling participants to develop a deeper comprehension of procedures required for peacekeeping missions.

Conducted in three distinct phases, the exercise begins with an orientation and preparation phase to familiarize participants with counter-terrorism operations within the framework of UN peacekeeping missions. This is followed by a phase dedicated to Table Top exercises, simulating operational scenarios, and concludes with the finalization of plans and a comprehensive review of the outcomes.

A highlight of the exercise is the showcasing of Indian-made weapons and equipment, emphasizing India’s commitment to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and its strides in indigenous defence production.

As the inaugural edition of CINBAX unfolds, it marks a significant step in defence cooperation between India and Cambodia. By fostering interoperability and promoting collaborative planning, the exercise underscores the shared commitment of both nations to addressing global security challenges and contributing effectively to United Nations peacekeeping efforts.
