Rajkot: The third Test between India and England continued to be dominated by the hosts as Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased his exceptional form, scoring an unbeaten double century and equalling the world record for sixes in a Test innings with 12. Resuming on his overnight score of 104, Jaiswal’s explosive batting, combined with contributions from debutant Sarfaraz Khan and others, led India to declare at 430 in their second innings.
In the morning session, the hosts added 118 runs, with Shubman Gill contributing significantly before being run out in a mix-up with Kuldeep Yadav. Gill’s innings concluded at 91, setting the stage for Jaiswal to take center stage once again.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had retired hurt due to back spasms yesterday, returned to the crease with determination. Displaying his aggressive yet elegant batting style, he not only surpassed the 200-run mark but also equalled the world record for sixes in a Test innings with 12 towering hits over the boundary.
Jaiswal’s remarkable partnership with debutant Sarfaraz Khan, who made a brisk 68 from 72 balls, added 172 runs to the team’s total. The duo’s aggressive stroke play and effective partnership further solidified India’s commanding position in the Test match.
India declared at 430, setting England a monumental target of 557 to win. The visiting team faces a daunting task, requiring a remarkable performance to overhaul the massive target set by the hosts.
