Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in parts of Odisha on March 19 and 21, offering a brief respite from the intense heatwave conditions gripping the state.
According to IMD’s Evening Weather Bulletin, scattered rain or thundershowers are expected in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Sundargarh on March 19, while the rest of the state will likely experience dry weather. A yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in some areas.
On March 20, light to moderate rainfall may occur at isolated places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur, while other regions will remain dry.
Similarly, on March 21, parts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, and Sambalpur are expected to receive showers, but most of Odisha will continue to experience dry conditions.
Despite the anticipated showers, the maximum temperature will remain high for the next 3-4 days, with a gradual dip of 2-4°C thereafter. The minimum temperature is predicted to remain stable across the state over the next five days.
As Odisha continues to battle rising temperatures, the IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions against the heat while remaining alert to possible thunderstorms in the coming days.
