IMD Issues Forecast for Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain in Odisha, Citizens Advised to Stay Alert

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive forecast predicting moderate thunderstorm activity with lightning, gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in several districts of Odisha from Tuesday to Thursday.

According to the mid-day bulletin released on Monday by the regional center of IMD, citizens are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity, especially to protect themselves from lightning strikes. Additionally, commuters are urged to follow traffic advisories, particularly in urban areas.

Here is the detailed forecast and warning for the next five days:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 19.03.2024):

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms expected in many places across north interior Odisha, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Cuttack, and a few places in other districts.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds likely in several districts.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.03.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 20.03.2024):

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms expected in most places across several Odisha districts.
Orange Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds, and hail likely in specific districts.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds expected in various districts.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.03.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 21.03.2024):

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms expected in most places across coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Angul, and other districts.
Orange Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds likely in specific districts.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds expected in various districts.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.03.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 22.03.2024):

Light rain or thunderstorms expected in specific districts, with dry weather in the remaining districts.
Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.03.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 23.03.2024):

Light rain or thunderstorms expected in certain districts, with dry weather in others.
Citizens are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during adverse weather conditions.
