IIT Bhubaneswar and ILS collaborate for Advanced Research and Technical Education

Bhubaneswar: To enhance technical education and foster advanced research, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS). The MoU was signed by Prof. Rajesh Roshan Dash, Dean-Sponsored Research & Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) (In-Charge) of IIT Bhubaneswar, and Prof. Debasis Dash, Director of ILS, in the presence of Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar.

This collaboration aims to bring excellence in technical education, particularly in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology. The agreement is expected to improve academic practices and build research capabilities among students and faculty members of both institutions. A key focus of the partnership will be the development of a vaccine for tuberculosis prevention, a critical area of research with global health implications.

The faculty members from both IIT Bhubaneswar and ILS will collaborate and train students in their respective areas of expertise.

The institutes will jointly organize symposia, colloquiums, workshops, seminars, and conferences on chosen topics to train students. Both institutes will engage in mutually agreed programs to enhance their educational and research endeavors.

Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “This partnership with ILS will enrich the research ecosystem in various life sciences fields, contributing to the fight against diseases and natural ailments. IIT Bhubaneswar looks forward to fostering innovation through this association.”

Prof. Debasis Dash, Director of ILS, highlighted the transformative potential of the collaboration: “This MoU between two premier institutions will advance research in biological sciences and establish Odisha as a benchmark in this domain. Our focused efforts towards developing a tuberculosis vaccine will significantly boost ongoing initiatives.”
