IEPFA Hosts ‘Niveshak Mashal’ Half Marathon to Promote Financial Literacy in Uttar Pradesh

Anupshahr: The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), in collaboration with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and the Pardada Pardadi Educational Society (PPES), organized the annual half marathon “Niveshak Mashal” yesterday to raise awareness about financial literacy and investor protection. Held at the PPES campus in Anupshahr, Uttar Pradesh, the event drew over 4,500 enthusiastic participants, including students from more than 45 schools and local community members.

The marathon featured three race categories—Half Marathon, 10 km, and 5 km—ensuring inclusivity for participants from diverse backgrounds. Anita Shah Akella, CEO of IEPFA and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), flagged off the event, which highlighted IEPFA’s continued efforts to foster financial education through innovative community outreach initiatives.

As part of its 8th Foundation Day celebrations, IEPFA also hosted an Investor Education and Protection Conference on September 7, 2024, at the PPES campus. The conference focused on the role of financial education in promoting investor awareness and protection, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

Moderated by Dr. C.S. Mohapatra, IEPF Chair Professor at NCAER, the conference featured prominent speakers, including Samiksha Lamba, Deputy General Manager of IEPFA; R.P. Singh, Assistant General Manager of SBI; CA Tushar Verma of Verma Tushar & Co.; Dr. Rahul Kumar, Assistant Professor at Jaypee University; and Paras Gaur, Chartered Financial Analyst and Deputy Registrar at Jaypee University. The discussions emphasized strategies for improving financial literacy and the challenges of reaching underserved populations.
