Dubai: In a thrilling conclusion to the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the Team of the Tournament, featuring standout players from five cricketing nations. Led by Australia’s triumphant captain, Hugh Weibgen, the star-studded lineup reflects the exceptional talent on display throughout the competition.
Australia, crowned champions for the fourth time, contributes three players to the squad. South Africa, led by the Player of the Tournament Kwena Maphaka, and India, the resounding favorites, have two and four players respectively. Meanwhile, the West Indies and Pakistan each have one representative in the esteemed lineup.
The selection process involved a distinguished panel comprising commentary representatives Ian Bishop, Melinda Farrell, and Abhinav Mukund, media representative Telford Vice, and ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley.
Taking the gloves and leading the batting order is South Africa’s Pretorius, who showcased explosive performances throughout the tournament. His dynamic batting, including a standout 76 in the semi-final against India, secured him a spot with a strike rate of 94.09.
Partnering him at the top is Australia’s Harry Dixon, a resilient performer who played crucial roles in the knockout stages, facing challenges from Pakistan and India’s bowling attacks. India’s Musheer Khan claims the number three spot, the only player to register two centuries during the competition, displaying attacking shots and left-arm spin prowess.

West Indies’ Nathan Edward, an all-rounder, impressed with a standout performance against England, taking three wickets and contributing 49 runs in a high-pressure chase.
The bowling attack features Australia’s Callum Vidler, who posed a constant threat with pace and bounce, Pakistan’s Ubaid Shah, spearheading their attack with lethal pace, and Player of the Tournament Kwena Maphaka, who ended the competition as the leading wicket-taker with 21 scalps.
India’s Saumy Pandey, the most successful spinner in the tournament with 18 wickets, completes the bowling lineup.
