
IAF Conducts Exercise Desert Knight with French and UAE Air Forces
New Delhi: In a display of strategic collaboration and military prowess, the Indian Air Force (IAF) executed Exercise Desert Knight on January 23, 2024. The joint exercise involved active participation from the French Air and Space Force (FASF) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air Force. The maneuvers took place over the Arabian Sea, with the Al Dhafra air base in the UAE serving as the operational hub.
The exercise showcased the joint capabilities of the three air forces, fostering enhanced synergy and interoperability. The IAF contingent included a diverse array of aircraft, such as the Su-30 MKI, MiG-29, Jaguar, AWACS, C-130-J, and Air to Air Refueller. The French Air Force contributed the Rafale fighter aircraft and a Multi-Role Tanker Transport, while the UAE Air Force fielded the F-16.
The primary focus of Exercise Desert Knight was to facilitate the exchange of operational knowledge, experiences, and best practices among the participating air forces. The interactions during the exercise aimed at strengthening the coordination and understanding of each other’s operational procedures.
