
Bhubaneswar: Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, the newly appointed Minister for Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) & Public Enterprise, made a significant visit to the H&UD department at Kharabela Bhawan today. The visit marks his proactive approach towards addressing urban development issues and enhancing the operational efficiency of the department.
Upon his arrival, Dr. Mahapatra was warmly received by the Additional Chief Secretary of H&UD, accompanied by other senior officers. During his tour of the department, Dr. Mahapatra engaged in discussions with officers and staff, focusing on key issues and initiatives critical to urban development.
This engagement highlights Dr. Mahapatra’s hands-on approach and his commitment to addressing urban challenges. Following his discussions at Kharabela Bhawan, he proceeded to the State Urban Development Agency, reinforcing his dedication to understanding and improving the functioning of urban development agencies at the state level. The visit provided him with a comprehensive overview of the agency’s current projects and strategies, allowing him to identify areas needing attention to ensure the success of urban development initiatives.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Mahapatra emphasized the importance of tackling the city’s drainage issues, drinking water supply, and transportation across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the state. “The city’s drainage problems, drinking water, transportation, etc., are our first priorities to meet the expectations of the people. It is our responsibility to do the people’s work by maintaining good relations with everyone,” he stated.
Dr. Mahapatra also mentioned his visit to the site of a recent drain tragedy earlier in the morning, underscoring his commitment to immediate and effective responses to urban infrastructure challenges. He expressed a strong resolve to drive the city’s development forward, asserting that the Urban Development Department plays a crucial role in building a developed Odisha.
“We will work to take the city development forward. The Urban Development Department has important roles to play in building a developed Odisha,” Dr. Mahapatra added, signaling a promising future for the state’s urban development under his leadership.
