Heatwave Warning Issued for Multiple Districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow and orange warning for an intense heatwave in multiple districts of Odisha, cautioning residents about the rising temperatures and dry weather conditions.

The warning, valid for the next few days, comes as a response to the prevailing northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation, indicating a significant increase in day temperatures across the state.

Weather Forecast and Warning for Odisha Districts:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 18.04.2024)

Dry weather is expected to prevail over all districts.

Yellow Warning: Heatwave conditions are likely in several districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, and Bargarh.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 19.04.2024)

Dry weather expected to continue.

Orange Warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions expected in Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Gajapati, and Nayagarh.

Yellow Warning: Heatwave conditions expected in several districts, including Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Angul, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, and Bargarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 20.04.2024)

Dry weather to prevail.

Orange Warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions expected in Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Gajapati, and Nayagarh.

Yellow Warning: Heatwave conditions expected in several districts, including Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Angul, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.

Day 4 to Day 7:

The forecast indicates similar weather conditions, with intermittent rain/thundershowers expected in some districts.

Residents are advised to take precautionary measures, especially during peak hours between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm, to avoid heat-related illnesses.
