New Delhi: In a heartfelt tribute to the valour and sacrifices of the heroes of the Kargil War, Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area, flagged off the ‘Heart to Bravehearts’ Car Rally today from Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantonment. The rally marks the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War, celebrated as Rajat Jayanti.
The ‘Heart to Bravehearts’ Car Rally, which began its journey on June 30, 2024, from three different locations – Tanot Border Post, Tezu, and Kochi Port – converged in Delhi on July 9. The rally, covering over 10,000 kilometers, is set to culminate at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras on July 15, 2024. This extensive journey through the country is a testament to the enduring respect and gratitude of the nation for its soldiers, especially those stationed at the borders.
Lieutenant General Kumar emphasized the significance of the rally, stating, “This rally is a tribute to the valour, resilience, and sacrifices of our heroes. It is a reminder of the unwavering spirit and dedication of our Armed Forces.”
Throughout its route, the rally will pass through various military stations, where ceremonies are held to honor the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. These events feature the presence of serving personnel, veterans, Veer Naris (war widows), family members of the bravehearts, and eminent dignitaries. Kargil War veterans and Veer Naris are being felicitated, recognizing their sacrifices and unwavering support during the war.
Organized by Mahindra & Mahindra in collaboration with the Indian Army, the rally carries messages from citizens to soldiers. These messages, collected in the form of letters, poems, sketches, and other creative expressions, symbolize the nation’s appreciation and gratitude. Mahindra & Mahindra showrooms across India have also gathered letters, messages, posters, and photographs, which are being carried by the rally.
