Nayagarh: A health camp focused on cancer awareness and palliative care was successfully organized at the Sambhav campus in Rohibanka, Odogaon, Nayagarh. The event, held with the support of IMS & SUM-2 Hospital, Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust, and SEEDS India, saw an overwhelming response with 272 registrations.
The camp was attended by eight doctors, including Ayurvedic physicians and counselors. Prominent medical professionals present included Dr. Anapti Anil, Gynecologist from Nayagarh District Headquarter Hospital, Dr. Puspa, District Public Health Officer, Dr. Garima from SUM-2 Hospital, and Dr. Pragati Panda. Representatives from SEEDS India, including Sujata Patnaik and Subhash Chandra Choudhury, along with Sujata Patnaik from Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust, also actively participated in the initiative.
As part of the camp, Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust and SUM-2 Hospital distributed free medicines and provided additional medical assistance to those in need. The event featured an awareness-based discussion on cancer prevention, early detection, and palliative care, followed by medical diagnosis. Suspected cases were referred to hospitals for further evaluation and treatment.
The initiative was effectively coordinated by volunteers from nearby villages, the Sambhav team members, and Amarabati from Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust. Their collective efforts ensured smooth execution and maximum outreach, making the camp a significant step toward enhancing healthcare access and awareness in the region.
The event underscored the importance of early diagnosis and palliative support, reaffirming the commitment of medical professionals and social organizations to improving community health and well-being.
