“Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Samman” Campaign Launched to Commemorate 75th Year of India as Republic

New Delhi: In a significant move to commemorate the 75th year of India as a Republic, Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the year-long pan-India campaign titled ‘Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Samman’ at Dr Ambedkar International Centre. The campaign aims to reiterate our collective commitment to the principles enshrined in the Constitution of India and celebrate the shared values that bind our nation together.

The inauguration event saw Vice-President Dhankhar planting a sapling and paying floral tribute to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s statue, marking this significant milestone. The campaign, a nationwide initiative, seeks to instill a sense of pride and responsibility among citizens to uphold the ideals outlined in the constitutional framework, offering an opportunity for every citizen to participate meaningfully in India’s democratic journey.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Dhankhar expressed his optimism about India’s growth, stating, “Rise of Bharat is unstoppable, let us contribute to nuclear speed, rocket speed of its growth.” He urged citizens to read and understand the Constitution, emphasizing the importance of fundamental duties in nation-building.

Minister of State (I/C) for Law and Justice Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal highlighted the historical significance of January 24 in Constitutional history. Under the ‘Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Samman’ campaign, efforts are being made to legally empower marginalized communities, enabling them to assert their rights and access justice. He emphasized that the Constitution, both rigid and flexible, empowers the three important organs of Indian Democracy.

Attorney General of India, Shri R Venkataramani, reflected on Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s vision for making the Constitution a living document, urging everyone to familiarize themselves with its contents.

The Secretary (Department of Justice), Shri S.K.G. Rahate, detailed the key components of the campaign, including ‘Sabko Nyay – Har Ghar Nyaya,’ which aims to connect villagers through Common Service Centers for legal awareness; ‘Nyaya Sahayaks’ to spearhead citizen-centric legal services at doorsteps; ‘Nyaya Seva Mela’ at the State/UT level; ‘Nav Bharat Nav Sankalp’ encouraging resolutions of Panch Pran; ‘Vidhi Jagriti Abhiyan’ involving students to spread legal awareness; and ‘Gram Vidhi Chetna,’ ‘Vanchit Varg Samman,’ and ‘Nari Bhagidari’ initiatives targeting vulnerable sections.

The event also marked the launch of ‘Nyaya Setu,’ a transformative step to extend legal services to the last mile, providing a unified legal interface for information, advice, and assistance.

Additionally, the achievement booklet of the ‘Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice’ (DISHA) scheme was released. The DISHA scheme, including the Tele Law Programme and Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services) Programme, has connected citizens for pre-litigation advice, sensitized beneficiaries, and decentralized pro bono legal services.

The collaboration with Bhashini and IGNOU aims to break language barriers in accessing justice and provide educational opportunities for paralegals, respectively. The ‘Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Samman’ campaign is a transformative initiative undertaken by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. The event saw the participation of over 650 students, faculty, and Tele-Law functionaries, among others.
