Govt Partners with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd to Empower Women Through Drone Didi Yojana

New Delhi: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has embarked on a transformative journey to empower women through innovative skill-building initiatives. In a significant stride towards this goal, MSDE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd to conduct two Pilot Projects under the pioneering Drone Didi Yojana.

The signing ceremony, graced by Secretary of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Atul Kumar Tiwari, alongside Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & MD of Mahindra Group, and senior officials of MSDE.

Launched earlier this year, the Drone Didi Yojana aims to train 15,000 women to operate drones for various agricultural purposes, including fertilization, monitoring crop growth, and planting seeds. This initiative is envisioned to create new livelihood opportunities for women by equipping them with essential skills in cutting-edge technology areas.

Atul Kumar Tiwari emphasized the strategic collaboration with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, leveraging the company’s agricultural expertise to deliver comprehensive training. He revealed that two centers of the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) in Hyderabad and Noida have been selected for the Pilot Projects, aimed at empowering rural women in agriculture.

Through rigorous training methodologies and hands-on learning experiences, students will be equipped with practical skills and competencies essential for socio-economic growth and nation-building.

Dr. Anish Shah reiterated Mahindra Group’s commitment to empowering women through skills development, aligning with the company’s Rise philosophy. He emphasized that the Pilot Projects under the Drone Didi Yojana represent a pioneering convergence of women, farming, and technology, showcasing the transformative potential of such initiatives.

Under the partnership, MSDE and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd will conduct two Pilot Projects at NSTIs in Hyderabad and Noida, aiming to skill 500 women in exclusive batches. The 15-day curriculum, approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), will be delivered through Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) instructors.
