Bhubaneswar: As the Kharif season paddy procurement continues across the state, the Odisha government has intensified its efforts to ensure transparency and prevent the entry of out-of-state paddy into the local market.
To maintain strict vigilance, 217 enforcement teams have been deployed across all districts, with each team working proactively to monitor vehicles transporting paddy from neighboring states. These teams are empowered to take immediate action, including the seizure of vehicles if any irregularities are detected.
Special emphasis has been placed on border areas where paddy from outside the state is most likely to enter. District collectors have issued strict instructions to ensure that these enforcement teams operate efficiently and swiftly respond to complaints related to out-of-state paddy vehicles. District Civil Supply Officers are also extending full support to these teams in their efforts to maintain a fair procurement process.
Massive awareness campaigns are being conducted to educate registered farmers about the proper channels for selling their paddy directly to the government. The government’s proactive approach aims to safeguard the interests of local farmers by ensuring that only registered paddy reaches procurement centers.
