Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025: A Testament to India’s Auto Industry Confidence

New Delhi: The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 – The Components Show, a major highlight of India’s automotive calendar, was inaugurated today in New Delhi by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal. Organized by the Automotive Components Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the event showcases India’s growing confidence and capability to compete globally in the automotive sector.

In his keynote address, Goyal emphasized the pivotal role of the auto component sector in shaping India’s automotive landscape, describing it as the “heart of the Indian auto industry.” The Minister unveiled the Show Directory, the ACMA Buyers Guide, and a landmark report titled Transitioning to EVs – Opportunities & Impediments, underscoring the sector’s readiness to embrace electric mobility.

Goyal commended the sector for achieving a net surplus in exports, highlighting its transformation into a global supplier of high-quality, cost-competitive components. He noted that the ongoing negotiations for Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) will open new markets, further boosting exports.

“The next decade will be a defining period for the Indian auto industry, setting the roadmap for Viksit Bharat 2047,” Goyal stated. “With a target of $100 billion in exports, India is well on its way to becoming Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) in this critical sector.”

The Minister emphasized the urgent need to develop a robust domestic ecosystem for electric vehicles (EVs), urging the auto sector to leverage economies of scale and reduce dependence on non-transparent, non-market economies.

“India must act decisively to build its own EV ecosystem before other countries catch up,” Goyal remarked. He called on manufacturers of buses, trucks, and related components to transition to 100% electric vehicles, citing compelling economic and environmental benefits.

He further encouraged first-time vehicle buyers to opt for EVs and challenged the auto component industry to create a five-year action plan to transition from internal combustion engines (ICEs) to electric mobility.

The Components Show, hosted at Yashobhoomi as part of the broader Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, is India’s largest showcase dedicated to automotive components. The event features over 1,000 companies presenting innovations in EVs, connected technologies, and sustainable mobility solutions.

The expo aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders, including OEMs, Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, startups, policymakers, and academia, solidifying India’s role as a global manufacturing hub for mobility solutions.

Goyal stressed that the auto sector is a key driver of India’s vision for Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, symbolizing the collective commitment of 1.4 billion Indians. He assured the industry of the government’s continued support through policies and public-private partnerships (PPPs) to accelerate growth and innovation.

The event was also attended by Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Jitin Prasada, ACMA President Shradha Suri Marwah, SIAM President Shailesh Chandra, and other dignitaries from the automotive industry.

Running from January 17 to 22, 2025, The Components Show sets a new benchmark for automotive exhibitions in India. By spotlighting India’s advancements in automotive technology and innovation, it strengthens the nation’s position as a leader in the global mobility ecosystem.

As the expo unfolds, it not only showcases India’s capabilities but also signals its readiness to take on global competition, paving the way for a sustainable and inclusive future in mobility.
