GeM Unveils Expanded Multilingual Learning Platform to Boost Procurement Efficiency

New Delhi: The Government e Marketplace (GeM) has significantly enhanced its Learning Management System (LMS) by adding interactive and multilingual e-Learning courses in six additional official languages. This expansion brings the total number of languages supported by the platform to twelve, catering to a broad spectrum of users across India.

Launched earlier this year, the GeM LMS is a cutting-edge solution designed to provide comprehensive training on the GeM platform. With the inclusion of Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Punjabi, the platform now supports a total of twelve languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Odiya, Tamil, and Telugu.

The upgraded LMS features a user-friendly interface with dedicated libraries and a progress tracking dashboard, aimed at enhancing the learning experience. The system offers a Four-level Buyer Certification program that empowers users with progressive learning and valuable certifications. Users can choose their learning path based on topics or certification levels, optimizing their training efficiency.

Prashant Kumar Singh, CEO of GeM, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “With the emphasis on utilization of GeM for procurement by all government agencies, it was imperative to provide proper avenues of learning to stakeholders. The introduction of our interactive and multilingual LMS in twelve languages reflects our commitment to making the GeM portal accessible and navigable for all users.”

Since its launch four months ago, the GeM LMS has seen a remarkable 32-fold increase in user registrations, with over 4,000 users now enrolled in various courses. Additionally, more than 600 Buyer certificates have been issued during this period. The rollout of this multilingual tool ensures a better understanding of complex public procurement processes, facilitating broader adoption of the GeM portal among state and local government buyers as well as last-mile sellers.

The platform aligns with international learning and development standards, reflecting GeM’s dedication to training and capacity building. By addressing the diverse language needs of users across all States and Union Territories, the LMS fosters a more inclusive and efficient learning environment.

Designed meticulously for Government Buyers, Sellers/Service Providers, and all GeM users, the LMS allows participants to engage with the GeM ecosystem at their own pace, catering to various skill levels and needs. This interactive, multilingual approach not only supports users but also builds trust and encourages wider adoption of the GeM platform.
