Four Men Arrested for Kidnapping Former Australian Cricketer

Former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill was kidnapped and assaulted by four men in Sydney.  Former leg-spinner MacGill was abducted from near his home on April 14. According to media reports, Kidnappers took him to some unknown place where he was beaten and threatened.

On Wednesday, Australian police arrested four men in this connection. According to police, the motive of the kidnapping was purely financial. “The victim was rescued without any ransom money” informed Australian police officials.

MacGill started playing for the country in 1998. He played 44 tests matches and three one day international matches for Australian team from 1998 and 2008. He had taken 208 test wickets and his career was overshadowed by the presence of legendary spinner Shane Warne in the team.

At the age of 40, he returned to cricket in the 2011–12 season. He joined as a player in the team Sydney Sixers in Australia’s inaugural Big Bash League.
