Fishermen Beneficiaries Invited as Special Guests for Republic Day Parade 2024

New Delhi:  The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying has extended invitations to 250 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and their spouses. These special guests will have the honor of witnessing the 75th Republic Day Parade 2024 at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, from the specially allocated “Enclosure Number 20” on January 26, 2024. This historic moment is significant for the fishing community, offering them an enhanced viewing experience during the Republic Day celebration.

Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala, along with MoS Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and Dr. L. Murugan, will interact with the special guests on January 26, 2024, at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The session will also be attended by the Secretary and other senior officials from the department, providing a platform for insightful discussions on critical aspects of the fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying sectors.

The distinguished guests, beneficiaries of various government schemes and initiatives, will have the opportunity to explore various designated historic sites in New Delhi during their visit.

The government’s transformative initiatives over the past nine years, particularly the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana launched in May 2020, have signaled a commitment to the comprehensive development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector. This flagship scheme addresses critical gaps in fish production, post-harvest infrastructure, traceability, and the overall welfare of fishers. The visit of these special invitees on historical moments reflects the contribution of fishers to Viksit Bharat and boosts the morale of the fishing community. The sharing of success stories during this event is expected to encourage and inspire others in the fisheries sector.
