Finance Ministry Launches Revamped E-Auction Portal ‘Baanknet’ to Streamline Property Auctions
New Delhi: M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, unveiled the upgraded e-auction portal ‘Baanknet’ today. The launch event was attended by senior dignitaries, including Chairpersons of Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunals, Presiding Officers of Debt Recovery Tribunals, MDs and CEOs of Public Sector Banks (PSBs), representatives of the Indian Bank Association, and senior officials from PSB Alliance Ltd.
The ‘Baanknet’ platform consolidates e-auction property information from all PSBs, offering a seamless, one-stop solution for buyers and investors. The portal lists a wide array of assets, including residential properties, commercial properties, industrial land and buildings, agricultural and non-agricultural land, vehicles, shops, and plant and machinery.
By aggregating these listings in one place, the platform simplifies the process for potential buyers to identify and participate in property e-auctions. The initiative aims to create a transparent and user-friendly experience, boosting investor confidence in distressed asset transactions.
Addressing the gathering, Nagaraju highlighted the transformative potential of ‘Baanknet’ in aiding PSBs’ recovery efforts. “This platform will enhance the balance sheets of PSBs and improve credit availability to businesses and individuals. By unlocking the value of distressed assets, ‘Baanknet’ will significantly contribute to boosting investor confidence and revitalizing the economic environment,” he said.
The new ‘Baanknet’ portal offers several advanced features designed to improve user experience and operational efficiency:
- Frictionless User Journey: A unified portal encompassing pre-auction, auction, and post-auction processes.
- Automated Tools: Integrated payment gateway and KYC verification for seamless transactions.
- Advanced Architecture: Microservices-based architecture with open APIs for third-party integrations.
- Real-Time Insights: Dashboard features for spend analytics and instant generation of MIS reports.
- Customer Support: Dedicated helpdesk and call center with callback request options.
To ensure the effective adoption of the platform, DFS has conducted training sessions for executives of all PSBs and Recovery Officers in DRTs. Over 1,22,500 properties have already been migrated to the new portal, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to optimizing the platform’s utilization.
Nagaraju emphasized the role of technology in improving the auction process. “With the integration of advanced tools, the process becomes more transparent, efficient, and accessible. This initiative showcases the collaborative efforts of PSBs, IBBI, and DRTs,” he said, commending their contributions to the platform’s success.
