Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Launches Key Infrastructure Projects Worth Over Rs. 1,000 Crore Virtually

New Delhi: Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, virtually inaugurated seven significant infrastructure projects, collectively valued at over Rs. 1,000 crore, from New Delhi today. The virtual launch ceremony witnessed the participation of key officials, including Sanjay Malhotra, Secretary, Department of Revenue (DoR), Ministry of Finance (MoF); Dr. Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), MoF; Nitin Gupta, Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT); Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC); Dinesh Khara, Chairman, State Bank of India (SBI), and other senior officials from the Ministry of Finance.

Addressing the occasion, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized the importance of ensuring timely completion of projects without delays. She urged the concerned departments to commence construction promptly and adhere to the specified timelines. The Finance Minister noted that such projects instill confidence and boost the morale of officials by showcasing the government’s commitment to their welfare.

Sitharaman encouraged officials to diligently perform their duties in the spirit of nation-building, especially during Amrit Kaal.

Nitin Gupta, Chairman, CBDT, provided insights into the state-of-the-art features of the new buildings. He highlighted that the constructions would adhere to green building norms, incorporating modern amenities such as EV charging points, solar power plants, sewage treatment plants, rainwater harvesting, and recreational facilities. The new buildings aim to create a sustainable and eco-friendly environment.

Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, CBIC, announced the inauguration of CITRA Heights residential campus in Dwarka, New Delhi. He described it as a landmark building and shared details about the project, including its location near IGI Airport, spread over 17,800 square meters, catering to the accommodation needs of CBIC officers stationed in Delhi.

For the CBDT, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid the foundation stone for the Departmental Residential Complex at Sector-28, Faridabad, Haryana, providing 198 quarters of Type-II and III for Income Tax Department officials.

Sitharaman also laid the foundation stone for the Residential Complex at Sector-53, Gurugram, comprising 214 quarters of Type-II to VI for officers and officials of the Income Tax Department.

For the CBIC, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, the Finance Minister inaugurated the Departmental Residential Complex at Sector-9, Dwarka, New Delhi, comprising 256 quarters of Type-IV, V, and VI for middle and senior-level officers.

For the DFS, Ministry of Finance, Sitharaman inaugurated State Bank of India’s new local head office building; Life Insurance Corporation of India’s International Business Centre building; and Canara Bank’s IFSC Banking Unit at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Additionally, she inaugurated the new head office building of United India Insurance Company Ltd., at Chennai. These initiatives aim to boost business activities in GIFT City and enhance customer services for United India Insurance Company.
