
Bhubaneswar: The FIH Pro League 2023/24 made a spectacular mark in Odisha, India, as the Indian leg wrapped up successfully. Over the course of 40 thrilling matches featuring both men’s and women’s categories, the passionate hockey enthusiasts from Odisha and across India came together to create an electrifying atmosphere. The hockey fans played a crucial role in making this event another unforgettable spectacle in Odisha, showing immense support for the Indian teams, which included local talents like Amit Rohidas, Sunelita Toppo, and Jyoti Chhatri.
From February 3 to 25, the Indian Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams showcased their prowess at Kalinga Hockey Stadium, Bhubaneswar, and Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, Rourkela. The women’s team faced formidable opponents such as Australia, China, Netherlands, and the USA, while the men’s team went head-to-head against Australia, Netherlands, Spain, and Ireland in the opening set of FIH Pro League season matches.
Reflecting on the successful culmination of the FIH Pro League in Odisha, Vineel Krishna, Secretary, Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, expressed his pride, stating, “We are proud to have hosted the FIH Pro League yet another time. It is the passionate fans of Odisha who transformed it into a hockey festival by turning up in large numbers.
