Exploring Shreemandir Parikrama Project: A Divine Journey Unveiled in Puri

Puri: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the transformative Shreemandir Parikrama Project around the sacred Shree Jagannatha Temple in Puri, marking a significant milestone in the state’s heritage and spiritual landscape.

The Shreemandira Parikrama is a 75-meter corridor enveloping the Shree Jagannatha Temple, designed to offer expansive and unobstructed corridors around the Meghanada Pacheri. The project aims to provide devotees with a clear visual connection to the temple, Neelchakra, and Meghanada Pacheri while enhancing safety and security measures.

Heritage Corridor Zones:

7-meter Green Buffer Zone: Adjacent to Meghanada Pacheri, featuring a hardscape area and a 1-feet high terraced landscape green.
10-meter Antar (Inner) Pradakshina: Reserved for ceremonial processions of deities and general public parikrama.
14-meter Landscape Zone: Designed with local varieties of trees and shrubs, reflecting Jagannatha Culture.
8-meter Bahya (Outer) Pradakshina: A shaded pathway covered by trees for visitors and pilgrims.
10-meter Public Convenience Zone: Equipped with facilities such as restrooms, water fountains, and information-cum-donation kiosks.
4.5-meter Service Lane: For service vehicles and corridor maintenance.
4.5-meter Emergency Lane: Dedicated to emergency and disaster management.
7.5-meter Mixed Traffic Lane: Facilitating vehicle movement around the Heritage Corridor.
7-meter Shaded Footpath: Designed for pedestrians with parking bays, waste bins, street furniture, and more.

Amenities & Facilities:

Main Cloak Room: Located at the northeast corner, allowing pilgrims to deposit baggage, shoes, and mobile phones.
Mini Cloak Rooms: Near south and west gates for visitors to deposit mobile phones and shoes.
Information cum Donation Kiosks: Providing essential information and accepting donations in the North, South & West sides.
Shree Jagannatha Reception Centre (SJRC): Offering queue management, security checking, cloakroom, drinking water, toilets, and souvenir shops.
Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) Office: Renovated office for dignitaries and guests, featuring safety & security arrangements.
The Shreemandira Parikrama Project, a harmonious blend of spirituality and architectural excellence, stands as a testament to Odisha’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage for generations to come.
