46,570 students selected in second phase of Odisha Plus II admissions

Bhubaneswar: The Higher Secondary admission process for the 2026-27 academic session progressed further with 46,570 applicants securing seats in the Phase-I second selection round, while 15,569 candidates remained unselected, according to official figures released on Tuesday.

A total of 87,549 applicants were considered during the selection process. Among those selected, 25,874 candidates secured admission through slide-up requests, while 20,696 were fresh applicants allotted seats in Higher Secondary Schools across the state.

The Arts stream accounted for the largest share of admissions with 32,782 students, followed by Science with 11,297, Commerce with 2,083, Vocational with 261 and Sanskrit with 147.

Gender-wise, 24,212 female students and 22,357 male students were selected, along with one transgender candidate. As many as 23,231 applicants secured admission to their first-choice Higher Secondary School.

Ravenshaw Higher Secondary School, Cuttack recorded the highest cut-off marks in three streams—78 per cent in Arts, 78.20 per cent in Commerce and 90 per cent in Science. Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, FM Higher Secondary School, Balasore registered the highest cut-off of 67.67 per cent in the Vocational stream.

In the Upashastri stream, Sanskrit Higher Secondary School, Paralakhemundi posted the highest cut-off at 76 per cent.

The School and Mass Education Department said the selection process is being carried out through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) to facilitate transparent and merit-based admissions to Higher Secondary institutions across Odisha.
