Cuttack: Renowned author Santanu Kumar Acharya has been selected for the prestigious Utkal Samman award, the highest honor bestowed by the Utkal Sahitya Samaj. The award recognizes Acharya’s significant contributions to literature and his lasting impact on the literary world.
The Utkal Samman is part of a series of prestigious awards instituted by the Utkal Sahitya Samaj to honor literary excellence across various genres. In addition to Acharya, several other prominent figures from the literary and journalistic community will be honored this year. Editor and journalist Rabi Rath has been chosen for the Udaynath Sarangi Sambadikata Samman, Krupa Sagar Sahu will receive the Sukadev Sahu Upanyas Samman, and Rabi Swain has been selected for the Fakir Mohan Small Story Samman.
Other awardees include Baijayanti Mishra, who will receive the Ramchandra Natak Samman, Prasanna Kumar Rathor for the Pranakrushna Parija Vigyan Sahitya Samman, and Durga Charan Sarangi, who has been chosen for the Gangadhar Meher Kavita Samman.
The Utkal Sahitya Samaj will also recognize literary talents in various categories, including essay writing, children’s literature, and spiritual literature, among others. These awards celebrate the diversity and richness of Odia literature and aim to encourage literary endeavors across different genres.
The awards will be presented at the annual function of the Utkal Sahitya Samaj, scheduled to take place on September 22, according to a press release issued by the Samaj’s general secretary, Aditya Pratap Dhal.
