Bhubaneswar: Ekamra Walks, the flagship cultural initiative of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), is set to expand its experiential offerings with the introduction of two new heritage trails—the Odia Literary Trail and Culture, Crafts & Conversations: Odia Film Panorama. Both trails will officially begin on 23rd November 2025 at Kala Bhoomi, the Odisha Crafts Museum.
The Odia Literary Trail is designed to take visitors on an immersive journey through the rich evolution of the Odia language. Set amid the artistic backdrop of Kala Bhoomi, the trail blends literature, performing arts, folk traditions, and storytelling to illuminate how Odia has transformed from ancient scripts to its celebrated classical status.
Participants will witness a curated narrative on the development of the language, complemented by folk dance segments, Odissi recitals inspired by literary works, and dynamic storytelling sessions that merge traditional and modern forms. The trail will also highlight Odisha’s oral traditions, regional dialects, and the diverse influences that have shaped Odia literature. Interactions with eminent writers and cultural personalities will offer deeper insights, making the experience enriching for students, families, and culture enthusiasts.
The second trail, Culture, Crafts & Conversations: Odia Film Panorama, celebrates the cinematic heritage of Odisha in a unique open-air setting. Every Sunday, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the Open Air Theatre at Kala Bhoomi will host screenings of classic and milestone Odia films.
Each screening will be accompanied by expert-led introductions on Odia film history, notable filmmakers, and the artistic nuances that define the industry. Post-film conversations with cultural practitioners and film enthusiasts will create space for reflection and dialogue. Visitors can also enjoy traditional Odia refreshments, recreating the nostalgic ambiance of rural community movie nights.
Both new trails aim to bring Odisha’s linguistic and cinematic legacy closer to the public through engaging, community-oriented experiences. Prior registration is mandatory on Ekamra-Walks.com, and with limited seats available, early booking is recommended.
