Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal on Wednesday reviewed the progress of the ongoing redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, with focus on construction quality, safety and keeping passenger movement smooth during the works.
Funkwal inspected the station’s concourse, platforms and other key areas to assess the progress of various infrastructure and passenger amenity projects being undertaken as part of the redevelopment.
During the inspection, he interacted with railway officials and representatives of the agencies executing the works and reviewed the status of ongoing construction. He stressed the need to maintain quality standards and adhere to safety measures while ensuring that the projects are completed within the scheduled timeline.
With construction activity continuing at the busy station, the General Manager also directed officials to take adequate measures to minimise inconvenience to passengers. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring smooth and safe movement of passengers throughout the redevelopment period.
The redevelopment project is aimed at transforming Bhubaneswar Railway Station into a modern and passenger-friendly transport hub. The planned improvements include better passenger circulation, upgraded platform facilities and enhanced amenities.
The inspection comes as work progresses on the station’s transformation, with railway authorities seeking to balance construction activity with the daily movement of passengers through one of Odisha’s major railway stations.
