Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager, Manoj Sharma, conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project’s under-construction rail line section between Sonepur and Boudh. The inspection was carried out in the presence of senior officials from ECoR headquarters, construction project officials, and representatives from Sambalpur Railway Division.
The Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project, a public-centric initiative, plays a crucial role in connecting remote areas. This project, closely monitored by Hon’ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji, aims to enhance connectivity and transportation facilities in the region.
Of the total 301 kilometers of the project, 152.805 kilometers of rail line work has already been commissioned. The stretch from Sonepur to Purunakatak, covering approximately 73 kilometers, is anticipated to be completed in the coming months.
Shri Manoj Sharma, during the inspection, scrutinized the ongoing infrastructure works and provided valuable guidance to officials to ensure timely project completion. The remaining stretch from Daspalla to Purunakatak, covering 75 kilometers, is targeted for completion by December 2026. The diligent efforts of the East Coast Railway are directed towards establishing an efficient and well-connected rail network to benefit the communities in the region.
