Kendrapada: Responding to demands from both the BJP and Congress, authorities in Odisha’s Kendrapada district have announced January 17 and 22 as dry days.
A notification issued by Kendrapada Collector Amrit Ruturaj on Tuesday confirmed the closure of all liquor shops in the district on January 17 for the inauguration of Sri Mandir Parikrama Prakalpa in Puri and on January 22 for the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
In video messages on Monday, leaders from both the BJP and Congress extended their wishes to the public for the upcoming celebrations on these two significant days. They also appealed to the state government to declare dry days on these occasions.
Jaya Narayana Mishra, senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP), urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday to declare a public holiday on January 22.
It’s worth noting that the state government has already declared a public holiday on January 17 for the inauguration of the heritage corridor project at the Jagannath Temple in Puri.
