DRDO Hosts 8th Technology Council Meeting to Strengthen Security Forces’ Capabilities
New Delhi: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) convened the 8th Technology Council Meeting in New Delhi on May 9, 2024, to assess the progress of integrating DRDO technologies into the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Police, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Participating virtually, various DRDO laboratories from across the nation engaged in active discussions, consolidating achievements and outlining a roadmap for the next six months. Chaired by DG (Production, Coordination & Services Interaction), Chandrika Kaushik, the meeting witnessed the presence of high-ranking officials including Inspectors General (IGs) from BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, NDRF, NSG, Assam Rifles, IB, and Delhi Police. Advisor, MHA, Harcharan Kaur also contributed to the discussions.
Director of Directorate of Low Intensity Conflicts (DLIC), Shri Sangita Rao, expertly guided the meeting, highlighting DLIC’s pivotal role as the nodal agency coordinating the integration efforts.
As part of the meeting, an exhibition showcasing various DRDO-developed products was organized, providing insights into cutting-edge technologies spanning Weapon systems, Communications, Internal security, VIP security, and Sustenance, among others.
DRDO, as India’s premier research organization dedicated to developing critical and futuristic technologies for the Defence Services, plays a crucial role in achieving self-reliance. In alignment with this objective, an MoU was signed between DRDO and MHA in 2012 to facilitate the induction of DRDO-developed technologies and products into Central Police, Paramilitary forces under MHA, and state police forces.
