DoT Hosts Key Meeting with Telecom OEMs to Shape Future of India’s Telecom Sector

New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), led by Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State for Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, held a significant meeting today with the recently constituted Stakeholders Advisory Committee (SAC) and Telecom Sector Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This meeting is a crucial part of the effort to engage industry leaders in shaping the future of India’s telecommunication ecosystem, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for inclusive and collaborative policy-making.

The discussions focused on key areas including boosting indigenous manufacturing, implementing pragmatic approaches, enhancing ease of doing business, and reviewing issues from previous meetings. Industry leaders within the SAC presented ambitious yet achievable growth targets for the telecom sector, expressing confidence that a robust domestic manufacturing base will not only create job opportunities but also contribute to developing a skilled workforce.

Minister Scindia assured OEM representatives of full government support in addressing the issues raised. He emphasized the government’s commitment to resolving these issues promptly and creating a more industry-friendly process. The OEMs were also encouraged to share best practices from other countries to aid in shaping effective policies.

In addition to this meeting, Minister Scindia has established six distinct Stakeholders Advisory Committees (SACs) to provide ongoing insights and facilitate a consistent dialogue between the government and the telecom industry. These committees include industry thought leaders, top CEOs, academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, and start-ups.

The DoT is dedicated to implementing the recommendations from these discussions to foster a productive and innovative environment for the telecom sector’s growth. The department will actively pursue the insights gained to ensure continued progress and development in India’s telecommunication landscape.
