Documentary on Kotpad Weaving in MX Player

Bhubaneswar: An award winning documentary ‘Kotpad Weaving: The Story of a Race Against Time’ is streaming on one of the popular OTT platforms MX Player.

The documentary by filmmaker Biswanath Rath which has been screened at numerous film festivals and won awards, was also premiered at Amazon Prime (US, UK, Canada and Australia) in June 2020.

The documentary focuses on Kotpad Handloom, a unique tribal textile tradition from Koraput district of Odisha.

Produced by Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT), the 30 minute duration documentary was first telecast on Doordarshan on 24 March 2018. The documentary is a tribute to the rich textile tradition 

practiced by the Mirgan Community in Kotpad town since ages.

Talking about the premiere on MX Player, Writer-Director Biswanath said, “We are simply thrilled about this launch. MX Player is an International brand having over 280 million users. We feel honoured to have our award-winning documentary ‘Kotpad Weaving’ as well as 3 other award-winning short films on this platform. Film Festivals/Awards provide recognition to our films, but leading OTTs provide the much-needed global reach to our content.”
