Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar reached a significant milestone in healthcare services as Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the Dharmasala, new Trauma Centre, and High Energy Linear Accelerator (HELA) Machine on Saturday.

In a virtual inauguration of the Dharmasala and Trauma care, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized that these new facilities would strengthen healthcare infrastructure, elevating the quality of healthcare delivery. Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, expressed gratitude to Dr. Mandaviya for his vision and commitment to advancing healthcare.

The fully operational Dharmasala building, boasting 492 beds in 159 rooms, is a significant addition, catering to the public seeking healthcare services from the national institute. The new Trauma Centre, equipped with ICU, modular OTs, wards, and advanced equipment, aims to provide quick and efficient emergency services, acting as a beacon of hope for those requiring urgent medical attention during traumatic situations.

The High Energy Linear Accelerator (HELA) Machine, a cutting-edge facility equipped with the latest technology, will play a crucial role in reducing waiting times for cancer patients requiring radiotherapy. Dr. Biswas highlighted the importance of this facility in providing comprehensive cancer care.

The Dharmasala building, funded through the CSR contribution of NALCO, is a three-story structure with separate male and female blocks, providing dining facilities. Patients and their attendants can avail affordable stay options, making it a unique offering in the state among all new AIIMS.

The new Trauma Centre at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, with 86 beds and 19 ICU beds, is equipped with advanced facilities, including a follow-up clinic, CT SCAN, modular OTs, Interventional Cath Lab, and other diagnostic services. It will also serve as a training ground for Resident Doctors and medical students in trauma care.

The HELA Machine, High Energy Linear Accelerator, marks a new era in cancer care. This technological marvel ensures modern radiation treatment, precisely targeting tumors while protecting surrounding normal tissues. AIIMS Bhubaneswar continues to pioneer advancements in healthcare, providing cutting-edge facilities for the benefit of the people of Odisha and neighboring states.
