Development Commissioner Anu Garg Reviews Key Projects in Sambalpur and Bargarh Districts

Bhubaneswar: The Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha, Anu Garg, IAS, conducted a comprehensive review of major ongoing projects during her official tour from February 19 to February 21, 2024. The significant highlight of her visit was the inauguration of the Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project by the Chief Minister on February 20, 2024.

The Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project, completed in a record time of three years under the principles of the 5T framework, was inaugurated to irrigate 63,000 acres of land through 3100 kms of underground pipelines (UGPL). The automated project, equipped with SCADA technology, aims to benefit over 35,000 farmers across 129 villages in Bargarh and Subarnapur Districts. Notably, 30% of the command area will be irrigated using advanced micro-irrigation techniques.

During her tour, Anu Garg visited the Samaleswari Temple on February 19, 2024, reviewing the Phase-II plans and interacting with tourists. She commended the transformation of the temple and reviewed the development timeline of the Mahanadi Riverfront opposite the Samaleswari Temple. The riverfront, once completed, will host regular ‘aartis,’ and a foot-over bridge will connect devotees from the temple to the riverfront for the ritual.

As the Chairperson of the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), Smt. Anu Garg visited the Sambalpur Bus Terminal on February 19, 2024, to oversee the progress of the Mo Bus service in Sambalpur. Accompanied by MD, CRUT Shri Arun Botha, IPS, she inspected the Mo Bus Terminal site and the CRUT office, ensuring the project’s smooth execution.

On February 20, 2024, as part of her responsibilities as the Chairperson of CRUT, Anu Garg, along with the MD, CRUT, visited the ISS Mahulpali worksite in Bargarh District. She inspected the ongoing project, engaged with the on-site team, and emphasized the importance of adherence to quality standards and timely completion of pending works.

Additionally, Anu Garg reviewed the transformation works at the Nrusinghanath Temple in the Padampur Sub-Division. The temple premises have been renovated, and a new shopping center has been established to enhance amenities for tourists.

The re-development project of Hirakud Dam and the ongoing canal lining works of the Bargarh Canal were also thoroughly reviewed by the Development Commissioner-cum-ACS along with key officials on February 21, 2024.
