Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Delivers Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Lecture 2024 on India’s Growing Global Role

New Delhi: Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, delivered the esteemed Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Lecture 2024 at the Akashvani Rang Bhavan Auditorium. The lecture, an annual Akashvani tradition since 1969, commemorates the birth anniversary of India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, celebrated on December 3. This year’s lecture, titled “Vaishvik Kshitij par Bharat ki Badhti Bhoomika” (India’s Expanding Role on the Global Horizon), focused on the nation’s growing influence in global affairs.

In his address, Harivansh highlighted India’s remarkable transformation over the past decade, emphasizing its ascent as a significant global player. He reflected on the country’s holistic progress and the widespread impact of its soft power, from yoga uniting the world to technological innovations like UPI redefining economic transactions.

The event commenced with floral tributes to Dr. Rajendra Prasad by Harivansh, CEO of Prasar Bharati Gaurav Dwivedi, and Director General of Akashvani Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur. Dwivedi introduced the audience to the legacy of the Memorial Lecture and Dr. Prasad’s monumental contributions to nation-building.

In his remarks, Dwivedi also showcased the evolving platforms of Prasar Bharati, which continue to bring India’s rich cultural and intellectual heritage to a global audience.
