Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Conducts Transformative Training Program in Lucknow
Lucknow: Under the dynamic leadership of Secretary Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DPEwD) conducted a five-day Training of Trainers (TOT) program in collaboration with EnAble India and Quest Alliance. The program, held at the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in Lucknow from 22nd to 26th January 2024, focused on enhancing employability skills for persons with disabilities.
A total of 26 participants, including four individuals with disabilities, actively engaged in the TOT program, emerging as certified trainers recognized by the Skill Council for Persons with Disabilities. The initiative aimed at equipping vocational trainers with the necessary skills and knowledge to empower individuals with disabilities, particularly focusing on employability skills crucial for gainful employment.
The felicitation ceremony, held on India’s 75th Republic Day, was led by Shri Ajay Kumar, Under Secretary, and Shri Himanshu Singh. The event celebrated the accomplishments of the participants, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to empowering persons with disabilities.
The TOT program covered foundational skills such as digital financial literacy, communication, and career management. These skills are deemed essential for individuals with disabilities to secure gainful employment, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and empowered workforce.
The successful completion of this TOT event signifies a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive society, aligning with the government’s vision of promoting equal opportunities for all citizens.
