Dengue Cases Surge in Odisha, Total Exceeds 2,400

Bhubaneswar: The dengue outbreak in Odisha has escalated, with confirmed cases surpassing 2,400, according to a statement from the State Public Health Director on Friday. The two districts most severely impacted are Khurda and Sundergarh.

Director of Public Health Nilakantha Mishra reported that as of Thursday, the total number of dengue cases in the state has reached 2,471. Among these, Sundergarh has reported 727 cases, while Khurda has confirmed 595 cases. Other districts, including Cuttack, Balangir, and Balasore, have also seen a rise in cases, with each reporting over a hundred instances.

In response to the growing crisis, a special health team from the Centre has conducted a review of the situation in Odisha. Efforts to combat the outbreak have been bolstered by increased testing to ensure early detection and intervention.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to avoid mosquito bites, as the state works to control the spread of the disease and provide necessary medical care to those affected.
