Bhubaneswar: Encouraging young children to explore creativity beyond classrooms, DAV Public School, Pokhariput organised its Summer Camp 2026 “Crafts Haven” for students from LKG to Standard II, with over 80 participants taking part in a series of interactive and skill-based activities.
The camp, held from May 4 to May 12, offered sessions on drawing, painting, quilling art, craft making, kinder cooking, bracelet and clip making, print-making and creating decorative items from discarded household materials. The programme concluded with distribution of certificates and mementos to all participating children.
The camp was conducted under the guidance of school principal Bipin Kumar Sahoo and supervised by Sanghamitra Satapathy. Teacher Snehaprabha Das coordinated the overall activities of the programme.
Speaking about the initiative, Sanghamitra Satapathy said the objective of the camp was to create a joyful and creative learning environment for children while helping them express themselves freely through activity-based learning.
She observed that several children who are generally shy or less interactive became more confident and socially active during the sessions. She also emphasised that Activity-Based Learning, as promoted under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, plays a vital role in making education experiential and engaging for young learners.
Apart from artistic development, the camp also promoted teamwork, creativity and “mobile-free hours”, helping children build better communication and life skills through meaningful engagement.
Organisers said the activities not only introduced children to creative hobbies but also encouraged independent learning and imaginative thinking from an early age.
